My New Years Health & Fitness Resolution

Hey hey! Happy 2020 everyone!! I am so ready to start a new year and I have so many goals that I am excited about tackling! That is one thing I LOVE about a new year is the excitement to prepare for what great things are ahead! I am excited to talk about my new year’s health & fitness resolution with you!

Let’s talk about the whole health and fitness journey deal though. It’s one goal I feel like EVERYONE and their mother makes for the new year. “I’m going to lose ____ lbs and be in the BEST shape of my life!” Then weeks later, the gym is empty again and excuses for being too busy come up.

I decided to be different with my new year’s health and fitness resolution! I am NOT saying I am going to be in the best shape of my life. Partly because my best shape was prepping for a figure competition and 10% body fat and honestly, I don’t want that. Well, I want the body, but not the discipline!

You see, when you set goals, you must align those goals with ACTION and what you are actually willing to work for! That’s why so many people fail to reach their goals. They set the bar so high, but they quickly become complacent and don’t make their goals a priority and do not want to put in the work.

So, my goal is simply to live a healthy life, be at a healthy weight, and feel confident with how my clothes fit! I want to gain flexibility and do more yoga with my husband (he doesn’t know that yet, so maybe he should read this)!

With that said, today was day 1 of my new 8 week home Barre workout program! This is so different than any other workout I have done before and I am SO excited to see how this program changes my body!

I will be doing low-impact, minimal weights, and more stretching!! Please do not think this is going to be easy! Today for my first official workout, my entire body was shaking like crazy and after my moves, I was on the ground! In a good way!

I am also focusing on nutrition. This is where many people go wrong, including me! You cannot work out a bad diet! So as much as you work out, if you are not eating healthy, you are not going to get the results you want!

So the meal plan is made and prep is done for the week! This is something I stopped doing for so long because I work at home so I really didn’t feel the need when I can cook daily. But I found that I am more motivated to eat healthy when it’s cooked and waiting in my fridge!

As I am focusing on my nutrition and lots of lean protein and green veggies, I also have one meal that I drink daily that gives me superfoods and tons of high-quality ingredients to help me curb my cravings and give me the nutrients my body needs, but doesn’t get from everyday foods and that is my Shakeology.

This has been my replacement for ice cream and fast food and helps me stay on track and I know I am doing my body justice with incorporating this smoothie into my regimen! By the way, we are a huge fan of the chocolate too, but today I went for vanilla with fresh berries!

I’m so excited to see how I can rock my new year’s health & fitness resolutions and take it to the next level this year and still be in great shape despite being a year older!
